Tribute

A “tribute” is an act, statement, or gift intended to show gratitude, respect, or admiration towards someone or something. Typically, tributes are given to honor a person’s achievements or contributions, often posthumously, but they can also be offered in real time as a sign of appreciation. Common forms of tribute include speeches, written works, artistic creations, and ceremonial acts. In historical contexts, a tribute was a payment made by one state or ruler to another, often as a sign of submission or allegiance. However, in contemporary use, the term primarily refers to expressions of honor and recognition.
