Biathlon

Biathlon is a winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. Athletes compete in a series of races that involve skiing over a set distance, during which they must stop at designated shooting ranges to shoot at targets. The sport tests both endurance and precision, as competitors must ski quickly while also maintaining the focus and stability needed to accurately shoot at targets. There are usually two shooting rounds in a race, one after skiing a certain distance, and the other after completing more skiing. Penalties are often imposed for missed shots, typically resulting in additional distance added to the race or extra time penalties. Biathlon events are featured in the Winter Olympics and are governed by the International Biathlon Union (IBU).
